I’m Shabeena Rehman and I’m a proud Muslim born in the UK. I love my religion and want to teach its foundations to my children. With two babies under three years old, I searched long and hard for books that were fun and light-hearted, but would also teach them the basics of Islam.

I couldn’t find any, so I founded Little Muslim Books. Together with talented illustrators and designers, I create books that will engage our children’s imaginations and teach them Islam while making them smile.

My children are learning to love Islam through reading. I hope yours will too.

My background

Before I began writing, my career was in research and insight. After completing a BSc (Hons) in Sociology and an MSc (Hons) in Social Research and Evaluation, I worked with high-profile brands to collate and analyse consumer opinion.

As a part of Little Muslim Books, my family and I run a second business, prayermat.com, where you can find an incredible range of kids’ and adults’ prayer mats with embroidery and personalisation options.

It’s a world away from being a children’s author, but it’s been very useful in helping me to understand what other parents might be looking for.
